I checked the gap, tried the drag test with the spring removed and tried a different top cover. Nothing seemed amiss there.

I was thinking the drag of the semi-feet mnight be making the differenece if the spring is just borderline weak. Still doesn't explain the 4' ejection pattern, unless, the reciol spring has failed to the point where they are actually ejecting too fast and bouncing around inside the chamber.Actually, I did have one go insde the barrel backwards (empty case) and the next bullett try to feed into it.
