I know this has been done before, but the old answers don't help. A week ago SKSE was working fine. I was running SKY UI and Better Map with Roads-All Roads. Then Do to some system issues, I had to uninstall steam and all my steam games. When I redownloaded and tried to run SKSE, I got the 'couldn't find TESV.exe' message.
So I decided to start all over again with SKSE as well. I wiped it off the system and downloaded fresh. I followed the installation instructions to the letter as given in the official SKSE installation video on youtube. (link below) this is the exact same setup that I used a week ago with no problems. YES, SKSE loader is in the main folder and not the data folder.

If you want those extension to be visible when you look at lists of files click on 'start' select 'Control panel' from the right panel in the upper right corner of the control panel page - select View by: then select large icons to see all of the categories select Folder Options Click the View tab Scroll down to find 'Hide Extensions for Known File Types' - uncheck that Click apply, then OK This will not only enable you to see any.exe, but it also shows the.ini files and several other types of extensions.

There are quite a few other options that you can either enable or disable in that Folder Options section.
